The Salon For Possible Futures is an installation and social practice salon housed at the Nerman Museum of Art March-December of 2025. This interactive exhibit features a custom designed community “living room” that guests are invited to explore and use as a casual gathering space. The salon will be activated by a schedule of 27 organized programs riffing on the notion of a “living room practice”, including game nights, movie nights, conversations, letter writing workshops, oral storytelling nights, karaoke, mending workshops, and more. Curiosity Cabinets designed for the exhibition feature discoveries of takeaways, resources, prompts, and art objects grounded in 4 themes: Sustainability, Histories, Community, and Magic. These cabinets act as “toolboxes” for the activity in the space, acting as catalysts for the possible futures to be imagined, discussed, and pursued.
